Divya Alter, Chef and Co-Founder

Divya Alter is a cookbook author and a pioneer in Ayurvedic cooking, having taught over 30,000 students worldwide. She is the co-founder of Bhagavat Life, America’s first Ayurvedic culinary school, and the owner of Divya’s Kitchen, an award-winning restaurant in New York City known for reimagining modern dishes through an Ayurvedic lens.

Divya’s journey began over 30 years ago as a kitchen assistant in a Bulgarian ashram. That early experience led her to India, where she became captivated by Ayurveda and its belief in the healing power of food. She went on to train extensively with Vaidya RK Mishra in the Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda tradition, earning certifications as a nutritional consultant, educator, and chef.
