Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one. Here, Divya presents an easy recipe for Coriander Water to help you beat the summer heat (or cool off any time you’re overheated).

For those of us with a lot of fiery energy, summer can be the hardest time of year. When the temperature is high it can feel like our blood is boiling! Thankfully, Ayurveda has a remedy for every body discomfort–here is a simple one for cooling down.

Coriander Water (Dhanyaka Heemam) helps reduce Pitta and cool down the body’s temperature very quickly. Once that happens, you will feel energized, even on a very hot day.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon whole coriander seeds

4 cups of spring or filtered water (room temperature)

Instructions

Place the coriander seeds in the water, cover, and let them soak overnight.

The next morning, strain the seeds and reserve the water. Crush the seeds with a mortar or pestle.

Mix them back with the remaining soaking water and then strain, discarding the seeds and storing the coriander water in a bottle.

Sip throughout the day at room temperature or slightly chilled.
