  1. Add package contents plus ghee or olive oil to boiling water. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add more water if the kitchari begins to stick to the bottom or dry out. The consistency should be creamy but not soupy.
  2. Turn off the heat and let the kitchari set for 3 to 5 minutes, covered.
  3. Serve hot and garnish with a drizzle of ghee or olive oil, fresh lime juice and a sprinkle of chopped fresh herbs such as cilantro, basil, dill or parsley.

Variation: Add diced vegetables to step 1 or chopped leafy greens in the last 5 minutes of cooking. Adjust the salt to taste.

Not just for cleanses

I absolutely love the taste, texture, quantity and numerous ways this kitchari can be used! I was told kitchari was just for cleanses. Making it myself called for large quantities and not satisfying results. Divya's solved all of this. I now eat kitchari almost daily. Thank you!

Quick & easy

easy, nourishing, seasoned & portioned. Perfection! A low sodium version would be amazing too!

I do like the Soothing Kitchari and all the ones I have tried except for the fact that they are WAY to salty. Each single serving has over half of the daily recommended sodium intake. It is easy to add salt to food, impossible to take it away. Otherwise, I do like the products. If there was less salt, I would live on them!
